Need help

Hi!

I have created a Photoshop file (800 X 800), it is 1.27 MB file.
I am not able to attach it in this forum. If I have to create a file within 1 MB, whould should be the dimension?

or Can I downsize the original file to 1 MB?

Thanks!

Why are you trying to reduce the file size?

what you might do is upload your file on a server, and link to it here…
Otherwise something very complicated would be to post several psds w/ the different layers…
If you want mail it to me mlkdesign@online.fr and I’ll upload it on my page, or ask anyone who has a webpage.

File|Save for Web, set it to low or meduim. that will reduce the file size and unfortuantly the quality

Hi!

EG - I just want to know whether we can resize the file in PS. If we can, without affecting the quality, we can resize some important files which we are not able to send it thru mail.

MLK - Thank u. I will mail the file today.

Mdipi - Yes. I did the same. I set it to Medium only.

Anyway, thank u very much…

Why don’t you just place it into a zip file? That’s the only way I know to keep the file original.

Unless you rescale the contents of the PS file, but that would mean you’ll be modifying it.

well you could just go to Image|Image Size and that scales everything…but i think it doesnt look as good becasuse its not a vector image.

Hi, files for the web should be very low in file size. I am always thinking for the poeple out there that don’t have any great connections. Size in dimensions matter as well. Not everybody has big monitors. Rule of thumb should be gif or jpg’s at 72 dpi. Always start your projects in RGB mode. Then from PS save for the web. If you want the file to be printed (conventional printing) then should be no less than 300 dpi and save as Grayscale (b/w) or CMYK (4 color process). Hope this can help.

Hi Cutnedge!

Thank you very much.
I want to know whether only the Dimension matters in file size or the effects we use viz., shadows, filters also matters in the file size.
B’coz, i created a file 200X200 in RGB mode with 72 dpi using 5 filters. I saved it as *.jpg in medium quality. The file size was more 1.5 MB. I could not paste it here.
Can u pls reply?

Hi, it seems to me that you are trying to save the file as an PSD file. 1) You must save the file first as PSD (original file just in case you would like to make any other changes). 2) Then go to the File>Save for the web. Another words, your PSD file can have type layers, filters applied, blending effects etc. When you happy about your art and ready for the web this is the time to save for the web. You see, this new file will be crunched as one file all the effects applied to it, no more layers,. The file will be much smaller than the original. That’s the way to do it. I hope you can understand me. Any questions e-mail me

Hi!
I understand now. I’ll try this and let u know.
Thanks!
