I know it’s far away from fininshed
but tell me what you think about the layout.
How can I improve it?
I like the concept of thes site - nice “tree” design for the nav. However, text needs to be larger and clearer, but as its still in the early stages…! Sum more moton would also be good.

As I’m a BIG fan of small text I would have to disagree with Pjc4real on that but agree with him on the BG movement.
The first thing that comes to mind is the tree.
Did you have the Line tool set to Hairline ?? Loads of lines = Good detail that inevitably gets lost when you zoom out or make the object smaller. Like I said Hairline MIGHT make it better? If not go back in and delete some of the lines you don’t need.
The sound FX for the roll over is just a little on the loud side. A noise like the one you are using sounds sooo much better when it is just an subtle accent [IMHO].
To be honest, the round discs rotating in the BG behind the 4 look more like the circle tool with the line width set to 10pt. It’s a good effect to have and personally I think it would look just that bit more impressive if the ends were straight and not rounded and maybe a slight bit of depth added [just for good measure]?
And last but not least. Color. Be adventures and break away from the crowed. Surf around and look at sites you like and colors you like. I’m not saying go rip off some other site. I’m just suggesting that color is our friend.
Anyways, I would love to see more when you have more to show.

nice layout, i like the colour scheme, but then i like monochromatic sites
the “the brave new world” line is a bit funky looking. looks like pixel fonts, but the gray letters look irregular, especially thier kerning. maybe you could try importing a gif made in fireworks or freehand. that’s minor
i do like the look, the nav is refreshing
