New user question - digital clock display

Does anybody out there know where i could find a tutorial for a digital clock display for Flash MX? theres one here on kirupa but it seems to be for flash5 , will this still work with mx or not?

Sorry if these questions seem a bit simple but im new to flash so i havnt got a clue at the moment.

Thanks

it should still work for MX

there are some minor differences that could break F5 code in MX, but chances are it will work fine… and if not, contact the author and they can make it MX compatible (and post it here if thats the case too, someone on the board might be able to fix it faster than the author)

I havent seen the example myself so Im just assuming its fine

theres only one say to find out… try it!

Thanks for getting back to me so quick, i wasnt expecting such a fast response!

I followed the tut and copied the actionscript , etc but it doesnt seem to work. When i look at the published version the basic text boxes appear but the actual dynamic text doesnt.

Would it help more if i posted the fla file?

:rambo:

Yep. Post it up so we can have a look. If it works in Flash 5 then it should only require a few tweaks to work in MX as well.

Don’t crosspost, man, and especially not in the Best of Kirupa forum. :trout:

yeah sorry bout that, i was in that section and then registered as a user when i went to post a new thred i was in that directory but wasnt aware. :hangover:

Iv now posted the FLA file so pls help me out if u can.

Thanks

Ok, everything in your Flash file was ok, except, you had your Variables inserted into the Instance Name box. When you change all of these, and then export your movie, you will see that the problem is solved. I’ve uploaded the modified fla for you to see…

or maybe this will better clarify…

thanks for the help, i had a feeling it would b something stoopid like that, thanks again!=)
