I have had troubles in the past doing this in PS. SO here is nice little work around.

If anyone has anyother tips please feel free to add them. I have noticed alot of questions about Print graphics, requirements and colors. Maybe this can turn into a sticky resource. Also if you have questions post them here maybe we can answer those too further increasing the resource.

nice read, thanks DDD.

I would usually let photoshop convert it for me, but then again most pantone graphics i use are from illustrator these days.

just for you Yeldarb ::

:: PMS (Pantone Matching System) A color matching system created by Pantone.

Used through out design to be able to get more accurate colour results from printing in press. PMS colours are not made out of CMYK colours. They have a speciality ink for each PMS colour.

If you look closely at a CMYK printed orange, you would see heaps of little dots of red and yellow to make that orange, If you look closely at a PMS printed orange , you will only see orange.

Pantone (PMS) is used in most all professional design applications.

I have had some bad experiences converting PMS to CMYK and this is a pretty good technique…save ya’ll the headaches I went thru.

I was like Premenstrual Stress to CMYK wtf ??? - nice link…

I am converting PMS to hex for a client right now…

and she’s on a mac, so not all hex colors show the same on PC as Mac…

Interesting at best…
