I dont want to sound like a real dead [edited] or anything but could some one tell me how i can remove the recylce bin of the desktop?? I have done it before in the past but cant find it now…
Right click desktop, properties, click the desktop tab, bottom button “Customize Desktop”
well, now that you mention it, i’ve been looking for this one too for quite a bit. tried the “customize desktop” but there i can only remove the “my documents”, “my computer” and stuff, no “recycle bin”…
Uh, I can’t read the language but doesn’t it picture the recycle bin there?
:hr:
Try to see if TweakUI will allow you to remove the Recycle Bin from your desktop: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
the red circle is to remove things from desktop, recycle bin isn’t one of them, and the recycle bin where the arrow is pointing to is just to chance the image of the recycle bin
edit: thx kirupa, works perfectly and really easy with TweakUI, desktop is now recycle bin free
Ah, gotcha.
I haven’t had great luck with Tweak in the past - just as a general purpose program. Drove me bonkers flippng windows around and even when I removed the program and tried to hunt down and destroy all it’s little fingers it had stuck into my system I still couldn’t get rid of it. Had to go way deep into regEdit to finally remove it.
Just a word of caution. :hr:
ahhh thats much better - tweak ui is very good!! i like it!! and it solved my recycle bin problem…
now the only thing i need to trash is my PC for a MAC!
if you’re running windows XP and you’re admin, you can play around with the desktop settings and many other things by running gpedit.msc
throw you M$ pc in the bin, problem solved lol
