Opening centered pop-up window in safari 1.0

Hi

Dulcinae directed me to this tutorial to create a centered pop-up window

works great except in safari 1.0x - which is the only safari for g3 macs. In safari 1.0x the window loads in the middle of the screen vertically but not horizontally - it stays right at the left edge of the screen

any idea why? I’ve seen other centered windows work fine in safari 1.0x
