I just bought them and now they come out with Flash MX 2004! With actionscript 2.0!!
My question is, for those of you that might know, are these books now ancient? Will the same methods apply, or will the AS be so different that I will have to buy new books?
I’m pretty sure you will find the two books useful even though they teach you AS 1.0. First off, AS 1.0 is supported in Flash MX 2004. The major difference in AS 2.0 is the object model, how classes are written and manipulated. Even you’re planning to get into advanced Object-Oriented Programming, learning AS 1.0’s object model should teach enough logic to be able to write AS 2.0 classes
AS 2.0 also has additional built-in classes, like the MovieClipLoader for example. Otherwise, the rest are mostly as 1.0 classes (like MovieClip, Sound, LoadVars… etc)
<s>Another thing to keep in mind is that AS 2.0 is only available in Flash MX 2004 professional, so it really depends on what edition are upgrading to…</s>
… and he said he would only write an extension to his book for MX04, not the whole thing over again.

Are you serious or are you just trying to give me a heart attack, Ahmed??? :hangover:
I got the Cookbook a week ago: it is GREAT!!
With these two, you’re all set, and noone is forcing you to ever code with AS2, v1 will do just fine! Even in MX 2004.
