!@#$% Pen Tool!

Hello guys

This may be obvious to most of you, but how do I add a !@#$% anchor point with the pen tool in Flash MX?!

I drew a shape and I need more anchor points to get the shape I want. I can remove anchor points by clicking on the points but how do I add? F1 help isn’t helping at all.

Thanks man:hangover:

stay away from the pen tool in flash. its no Good. sorry macromedia but its the honest truth. if you’re gonna draw anything with the pen tool i recomend you do it in Illustrator then import into Flash.

Im using my school machine which currently does not have Illustrator and I don’t want to use Photoshop to do a bitmap… so please, anyone?

i am think ing you already tried clicking in the line where you want the point. Try doing it while holding alt or cntrl maybe shift. I dont use the pen tool in flash much I prefer fireworks

once your line is selected, choose the pen tool. When you get close to the line, a small plus sign will appear. that will add a anchor point to your line…

Rev

Yeah I tried that but there’s no plus sign. Thanks for the suggestions anyways… :stuck_out_tongue:

try zooming in because what rev jus suggested worked for me. maybe you are missing the line

alright ill try zooming in

So its not just me? I always thought the pen tool in flash was a bit flaky compared to Photoshop and Illustrator.

yeah thybalt, i would have to agree that the pen tool is no good in flash… i don’t have a different proggie that supports import/export to flash so i feel your pain. The only thing i can suggest is, sometimes it’s easier to draw your shape, then using the main arrow thingy, drag a selection over the bit that you want to add the point to…

it’s hard to explain, but if you can select the bit you want to add a point to, then move it even just one pixel, it adds a point there to define the new shape… then i think you can even move it back again

but it’s really clumsy.

also, i’m not sure if it’s just me, but your footer is HUGE, i.e takes up nearly the length of my whole screen (vertically) coz there’s heaps of white space above and below the bubbly bit (which is cool in itself )

anyhow, good luck with the drawing
Stuart

i think the footer thing is just you…because it seems to be working fine for me…

=)

ic… how frustrating!

heres a screenshot of how it looks for me. I’ve cropped it to the left and right to save filesize, but you can see the top and bottom of my browser in the shot.
I marked arrows at the top and bottom of his sig.I:-)

sorry for hijacking the thread…
Stuart

WOW, I definitely don’t see that.

Thybalt, I checked out the code you are using to display your flash footer… why don’t you use the swf vbCode tags kirupa set up (as per the blue link showing you how on the main page)…

[swf="http://www.yourURL.com/file.swf height=60 width=300"][/swf]

WHOA sorry man didn’t realise that my footer was screwing up.
will change it now.

You guys still seeing the white bars? :ub:

i don’t know if that was screwing it up or not, I know some people use the embed code for their footers and it works out great, so I figured I would just post you the swf vbCode for it on this forum. It is so much easier dontcha think :beam:

I never saw the white bars in the first place… so no

his footer didn’t mess up on my browser from the start…i guess its a mozilla thing…C:-)

yeah actually that was probably it… it’s fine now, thanx

and how’s the pen tool going?

Stuart

Heh ok.

I downloaded and installed trial version of Freehand onto my school comp. I’m drawing in that and then importing to Flash.
