After looking at several great sites that use fantastic photos I am shocked at how quickly they load… compaired to my flash attempts with photos.
Mine seem to take longer to load (with preloader) than theirs do even at half the visual size.
Is their a trick to compressing the photo before inserting into the .fla file that I am missing?
Or could those photos be “secretly” loading prior to their appearance… thus making them seem to appear quicker than it would seem normal?
In the diolog box for Publish the defalt for jpg compression seems to be around 70 - 80%… I am bumping it up to 100% to look the best. Should I back off of this?
the trick is to use you images at the edxact sizze you need them to be, ive noticed that fireworks is the best app to export jpgs or gifs the compression rate is incredible compared to photoshop its a big diffrence if you really care about kbs, then in flash use lossless gif or png and in the publish settings leave it at 80 it should look great theres some tutorials here on the site regarding this so do a search in the tutorials section
don’t forget about server hosting too… Most of them have their own broadband servers that are quick compared to the tripod/geocities/ any other free stuff
