Hello,
I am looking for a developer (PHP/MySQL) that is possibly looking for a long term business relationship. I am starting my own agency in the Youngstown, OH area and work as a contractor for a few different individuals as a designer.
Well needless to say projects are starting to come in that are way above my skill set and I will need to work along side of someone in the evening to get these projects done.
If you live in the Youngstown area great… if not let’s work out something remotely. Skype is king in these situations. I plan on working with someone extensively to get to know them and build a future with them. Since I am making warm contacts over here things can look good over the next few years. Anyways. We can chat more about this later.
The Job: A Complete Website…
Here’s what I know about the client (the client of the agency I have been contracted to do work for) so far:
Flash Production…
The user would start with a base model of a product and change out color and style options using built-in buttons (Think REI.com’s color chooser on their clothing lines but with multiple options, say short-sleeves or sleeveless, collar popped or down, zipped or unzipped, etc). At a maximum of four changeable options and the product art already in layered PSDs.
In some cases, all that changes are color options but they need to pair a red fabric and a gunmetal frame, swap out the gunmetal for chrome, then change the fabric to blue, and then change the color of the fabric to pink, and then throw a whole other chair-back
onto the chair, all while retaining the same color choice. And there are about 400 chairs to choose from, and they want to add more from time to time.
Flash may not be the way to go… but more of a data-based back-end - the agency wanted to do flash but to be honest I don’t want to do 400 chair apps in flash.
For the immediate deadline, the architecture of the site needs to be in place, and we need to have a few working samples up and running on the site by the end of September.
I was planning on using Joomla! to manage the content right now and then building plugins as necessary and existing programs to power the search results. To help ease the cost of doing this completely custom.
I originally pictured individual SWFs that had all the color and shape options contained within them, since they would be associated with a specific chair model number, but we will have to use a database and Joomla! architecture to manage various types of content on the site anyway so if you can imagine a db field that the SWF can parse to get options.
The drop-dead date for the about us/overview/home pages and the framework of the search engine and database is end of September. The end of the year is our drop-dead for
populating the db with content and completely debugging the search engine, as well as adding a secure login area where the client’s third-party sales reps can at least download current price sheets and the client can upload new pricing.
Looking forward to the candidates… I would like to chat about some stuff before we make a decision to work together.
Thanks.
