Hello all! I’ve been working on a Flash app in my spare time these past couple of months, and I’ve finally launched it this morning.
PillBox makes use of Digg’s API to track digg activity as it’s happening (popular or upcoming stories). The stories you’re shown are based on current digg activity. You also have the option to view new stories as they’re added to Digg (any category/topic).
I’ve added the ability to bookmark stories so you can hang on to ones you want to read later or just hang on to in general. Plus you can save your bookmarks, so the next time you use PillBox, they get loaded back in! You can also e-mail your bookmarks to friends from within PillBox.
There are some options for customizing PillBox, such as changing color settings and even skins. I have a template set up so you can make your own skins, too!
PillBox comes in two flavors - there’s the online version done in Flash, and a desktop version that you can download and install. The downloadable version was created using AIR. It’s exactly the same as the online version for now, but there are plans to incorporate a lot of the great AIR-exclusive features to it.
There’s a lot going on in the app, so I encourage you to check at the FAQ if you get a little lost along the way.
Oh! And this post is to showcase the app, not the website it’s on. The website is very lightweight and pretty straightforward, and I’m not looking to have it critiqued. But please throw any feedback my way that you have about PillBox!
And please (please), if you use Digg, DIGG THIS STORY! The Digg button is directly above the application on the main page. Thanks, all!
