Please Help! Emergency

a client asked me to update their website. i was given the hosting control panel login.

i logged in and created a mail address for myself, nothing else. the site is a CMS http://www.orthodontics.ie/index.php

when i connect to the ftp (using CuteFTP) all i see is a index.html file. but using the control panel file manager i have read-only rights to the CMS.

trouble is that now if i go to http://www.orthodontics.ie/ the server is defaulted to look for index.html, which it cant find. it wont look for the index.php file.

p.s. the control panel is by Plesk

i’ve asked the hosting company to fix it… BUT… my client has just severed their contract for the web development (hosting and development was done by the same company)
im afraid that they will try to make it look like i did something wrong to discredit me. all i did was log in.

i have the hosting control panel details, is there any way that i can correct this from the control panel or am i limited to hoping that the hosting company will fix it??

please, i hope someone can help me out.

p.s. the control panel is by Plesk

Who created the FTP account? I suggest you create a new ftp account through CPanel and make sure you have access to the root directory of your account and that your ftp account is not relegated to some upload directory (which I sometimes do to clients, limiting what they can upload and download). If the account was severed (which makes it sound like on bad terms), the hosting provider may have deleted the contents of your account directory, they can do that. Yeah, checking back, they deleted your account and/or changed the DNS records for the domain name to not point to their server anymore. You should ensure that your client owns the domain name.

i put a typo in the domain name… im bloody stupid. i meant to type:

the content is still there. but if you visit http://www.orthodontics.ie/ it looks for index.html and gives a 404 error

all the rest of my post still applies, i just misspelled the domain name.

the web company still do the hosting separately, they cant delete the content (well not yet)

sorry for the typo, i would still gratefully appreciate someone taking a look at this.

Both links worked just fine for me… Typos are fun!
