There are a number of things that have been disturbing a number of the mods. I will try to clearly define what they are and why we have a problem with it.
We are an international community with members who sometimes have little or no understanding of English. We also have members of all age groups ranging all the way down to 6 year olds. We have people like myself who simply recieved a crappy education in some arenas of study.
Making fun of the way in which someone posts, short of the fools who use leet speak, is obsurd and insulting to me. These people are coming here for help. If you are just here to abuse people, leave. You’ll be banned soon enough anyway. That’s not what we are about. If you have nothing nice to say, short of a critique which obviously should be honest, keep it to yourself. No one wants to come here if they are just going to get abused.
The random section is for posts that don’t fit in anywhere else. Post counts don’t count in random… but ALL THE OTHER RULES APPLY. Just because something is in random, does not make it fair game for abuse.
I’ve seen kids walk away from here in disgust over their treatment and it’s not right. When we were a community of 4000, no one EVER walked away from us… no one was banned, no one was a smart ***. It seems that we’ve become popular, and that’s great… but remember WHY we became popular. It was because we offered a helping hand when people were abused in the other forum they went to.
I beg of you all to consider what you’re posting before you post. Is it in the best interest of teaching, or is it just to pump up your ego by degrading that of another? Is it constructive? Does it turn people away from us, or make people want to join our community? If you aren’t thinking about that when you post, then you’re not being kirupian.
Outside of a critique, where someone has ASKED for an evaluation of their work, If you have nothing nice to say, keep it to yourself.
