We are a eLearning company which use Powerpoint presentations and convert it to Flash in order to use with our own Flash 5 Viewer system. We do this everyday.
Here’s how we proceed; We export powerpoint slides to a WMF format an import them into Flash. We’ve used this method for 3 years now… However, we get only one problem:
Let’s say we have a text box in powerpoint. Ex: [Here’s an example of some text. Do you agree ?]
Once imported in flash, we find the same text above in breaked textbox as following: [Here][’][s an example of some text][.][ Do you agree ][?]
Its a major problem because the font spacing seem different from powerpoint to flash. It might be because the powerpoint file as been made on Mac (and we use PC…) But once again, the same problem occur if we save the ppt on PC and export as wmf again.
Another error we have is that if we draw a square shape in powerpoint (could be a circle…or whatever) once imported in flash we only see the stroke of the shape. Fill is not imported !
Therefore, when we use the bulletpoint feature in powerpoint, if we use Arial Unicode MS with weird caracters, those caracters are remplaced in flash…
We could Print Screen the slide and make the slides, images. But since its for flash and flash support vector graphics, we need to keep a vector format.
That said, WMF is very unreliable for Flash. I must find a solid solution to this problem. Anyone have this problem ? Anyone have already found a solution to import PPT to FLASH with perfect result ?
I’ve tried different converter software such as iCreate from Wanadu.com (Excellent plugin! However the converted powerpoint into swf is not readable from flash mx so we can’t retouch it and it’s made to be used with iCreate viewer)
