Hello, I am a first time poster. I was going through your preloader tutorial here: http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/percentagepreloader.htm
and I had some issues with it on execution. I am using Flash CS4, but am exporting to Actionscript 2/Flash player 9.
Using your Actionscript code example, my text percentage counter does not show up, not even when I download your partial Flash file example.
However, when I download your complete Flash file the percentage text shows up fine. I noticed that in your example on the site it shows the code using this.whatever and looking at the code in your completed file you have the code written using _root.whatever instead of this.whatever. That is the only difference I see.
Is there a reason for the change and a reason why one method would work correctly and another would not? The loadBar still seems to work fine, it’s just the text not showing up.
