Hello, I just utilized the kirupa tutorial and actionscript on installing a preloader for an external jpg. (http://www.kirupa.com/developer/actionscript/moviecliploader.htm)
I was pretty happy with it until I tested it on my slow (stolen wirelessly from my neighbor) pc laptop connection. There is like a 2 or 3 second pause before the preloader bar shows up (while it’s waiting to make the server connection), and that really sucks, because I know that for many impatient people out there, that’s too long, and they’ll click somewhere else in the meantime. I don’t mean to sound picky about this–on my cable connection it is hardly even noticeable–but is there any way to fix this for people with slower connections? The only solution I can think of is to put a temporarily _visible flashing ‘loading’ mc where the bar is about to show up, but I’d much rather have a 0% loaded bar and percentage number there. This is just my portfolio site, but next week I’m beginning work on a very image intensive site for a client, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
I’m kind of a newbie to Flash, so pleez go easy on me here. Thanks a bunch.
here’s the site (the section I’m talking about is in the ‘web’ section):
