Hi everybody and thanks for the nice birthday card Kirupa, gee this must be one of the friendliest sites around C:-)
Anyhow, guys, the problem is this:
My swf is just over 1 mb. I’m still on dialup :asleep: hehe (I mention this in case this is a factor in the problem). And I published an html page for the swf so that it has all the right <object> codings and stuff. I uploaded the html page and swf.
About the swf: On the 1st 2 frames of my movie I placed my preloader, with a loading bar/percentage display & script in 1st frame, gotoAndPlay(1) in 2nd frame, and when all bytes are loaded, the movie jumps to the 3rd frame. (I used preloader tutorial at this site).
Problem is this: The preloader loading bar & percentage graphic only shows up at 52% !! Why is that? To see if it would help, I tried experimenting using Top Down instead of Bottom up Flash settings when I published. Or is it normal for preloaders not to show up right away if a swf is kind of big (1 mb or more?) I kind of remember that in my old Flash 5 program, wasn’t there a way to tell the thing to “stream”? Gee, I probably don’t know what I’m doing lol, but I really thought that with a preloader in the 1st 2 frames, it would show up right away. For people on dialup, the preloader doesn’t show up at all for a couple minutes or so (not good lol).
Any advice or comments on this would really be appreciatd as always, bye and thank you !
