Problem with room change in game

i am makeing a video game and when you play you look down at your guy whom you move with the arrow keys. the room is suposed to change when you start to leave it. i was thinking of makeing the room change by putting a black bar accross the top and when the charachter and the bar over lapped it would go to the next room. unfortunately is doesn’t work. i have read the tut. on hit testing and understand it but is still isn’t working. any help with the hit testing, or with changeing the room is greatly apreciated. i am a little new to flash 8 so i might be missing somethimg simple. thanks a lot.
