Question and opinions needed

Hey guys. What I want to try to do in flash is this. I have 2 old action figures from the 80’s that I would like to have a fight scene. I would like the fight scene to be about 7 seconds. My questions are this: How should I do that? Draw the action figures in flash which would be extremely difficult for me because I am far from an artist or somehow with the digital camera take a movie shot but somehow edit out the parts of me moving the figures?
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Stop - Go animation, much like the old Gumby shows would be cool.

Yeah, just put them against a white background so that you can easily clip them in photoshop and do it fram by frame.
Or if ur feeling adventureous you could seperate the arms, head, legs and torso either by pulling em to pieces or cutting em in photoshop. Then digitise them in the necessary poses and animate the seperate bits as needed, would look smoother I guess.

I want to make the fight look smooth. To make it seem like you are watching a fight in a cartoon.
So put my figures on a white background then take the video with my digi cam and bring into photoshop?

No, if you want to take an actual real time movie and edit out your hands then that is some major work in Adobe After Effects.
A cartoon would have to be drawn unless you use that application that transfers video into vectors but again you would have the problem of your hands on the figures.

To be honest you would be better off doing a stop frame animation like how Wallace & Grommet (the wrong trousers?) is done. This is made by taking seperate photographs of each ‘frame’ of the animation. The more you do and the subtler the moves of the characters then the smooter it will be.

Other than that I suggested that you could just photograph the various limbs etc. and animate them in flash, kind of like cardboard cut outs.

hope that helps :stuck_out_tongue:
