Questions here guys!?!

Hello guys,

I have some question as a designer…

first, does anyone or any designer still thinks about 56kbps visitors/users?

second, flash is great, but, is it worth it mastering flash even the trend (correct me if im wrong) now is web entreprise/application sites?

thanks…

Regards,
Aeon

Yeah - all the time! A lot of people here come from foreign countries where broadband is not an option.

Flash is a good language to learn, but it is by no means necessary or the best solution for creating great sites. If your site is going to be catering to a very corporate userbase, you may want to move away from Flash

I don’t actually think about 56kbps users, I just try to keep everything as small as I can and if I can’t… yeah well then … too bad :stuck_out_tongue:

Flash is definitely useful even only as a header or a menu, the trick is to keep it original and professional. It isn’t hard to learn and is probably the best choice for interactivity on a website

i agree with Kman. you should keep 56 kers in mind, and you do not in any way need to use flash to have a “cool” site.

Yeah we still think about dial-up users. we have 4 or 5 thousand agents and a lot of them still use 56k modems so we have to make it all as small as possible. But even if I was designing for the internet again I would design for the smallest common denominator, dial-up.

I actually hate sites that don’t design with 800x600 and dial-up in mind and those stupid sites that give you two versions and make you decide rather than do some behind the scenes checking.

As for flash its only going to get more popular but I don’t think you have to master it. I will never master ActionScript and don’t care too. That’s what programmers are for and what they went to school to do. I rather design the GUI any day and know how to make it all but have someone else make it work.
