Quick and basic PRELOADER question

Hi.

I’m probably a huge dork and the answer is right in front of me (nose despite face) but I have a simple preloader question.

I have a main Timeline, an empty movie clip, and a bunch of external SWFs which load into the empty clip on button releases.

Where do I put my preloader? Does it go in the main timeline of the external SWF? Does it go in my empty movie clip? Does it go on the root timeline of the main movie?

If it does go in the external SWF, where does it go? On the first frame with the main animation starting on the second frame? Egad!

Want a very simple bar loader, nothing fancy, no masked transitions, no sounds, no bells and whistles. Just a little bar with the percent loaded.

Help.

each external swf could have a preloaderon the first frame and the main animation of said external swf should start in the second frame (or third depending on preloader method used), if u want to keep the scripting simpler

the other way (with way more scripting involved) is to have a dynamic preloader that will display the percent of any loaded swf

somewere in kirupa.com there is a preloader tutorial, if you need it
