Quick Paypal question

Hi
I recently did some webdesign work for someone and they insist on paying via PayPal. I’ve not used Paypal that much, so correct me if I’m wrong, but:

  • I sign up for a Paypal account.
  • The client enters my email address and sends the money.
  • The funds appear in my Paypal account.
  • I click ‘Withdraw’ to transfer the funds into my bank account.
It says there’s a AU$1.00 fee for transferring into an Australian bank, a 2.3% fee to change USD into AUD, and everything else is ‘free’.
    So, if a client transfers US$100 into my account, it’ll cost AU$1.00 + US$2.30

Right?

There may also be like a 1.5% surcharge for the transfer, but that might be included in the 2.3%. What I’d do is charge the client extra for the paypal surcharges since they are the one insisting on it.

Yes, PayPal charges quite a lot (somewhere 'round 5%) of the amount of money that is transferred. Yeldarb said it: let them pay for that 5%

amen brutha, amen :thumb:

lol, thanks a lot people. ive sorted my Paypal account and am waiting for the transaction today.

…bleh… 5% charges??? well, i think im pretty well covered for that @ US$45/hour :stuck_out_tongue:
