is the width property written like:

or like:

I’m using this instead of xscale

…I use it all the time. It will widen your MC from the registration point. If you want to widen towards the left or right, just change the reg point.

um…is the reg point the little circle that’s in the middle by default…becuase i tried dragging it around but the width still goes from left to right(as in if i make the bar any smaller, the left and stays in place and the right end moves closer to it)
The registration point is the circle with the crosshairs in it. There are a couple of ways to move it, but the way I do it is this:
Double click your movieClip,
use the arrow keys to move your graphic around the reg point.
If anything else, when you ‘convert to symbol’, you can set where the reg point will be just to the right of where it says graphic, movieclip, or button.
