I went to www.last.fm today and got temporarily blindsided by the huge background ad and matching Flash ad. I felt like I accidentally typed in the wrong site. I panicked and feverishly looked around to figure out where to go, but was impeded by the bright flashing colors and animations.
Is this the fate of all websites? Websites like www.gametrailers.com and www.metacafe.com are doing the same thing. Soon many others will fall under money’s iron grip and sacrifice their users’ experience for a few extra pennies. This is such a pity. Everyone should take a tip from Google and make money through non-obtrusive ads.
