I just registered a week ago my domain for my first name and last name. And I did it through the company I am hosted with (really cheap) and it took a week or so to send the money order (no credit card) and then yesterday I changed the nameservers, and got everything working.
NOW fast forward to today, and I get this WEIRD phone call from some guy at aplus.net … he goes “I see you just registered thedomain.com and I was wondering if you are hosted yet?” and I said, yea… for free… and he said, I can’t even beat that… and then he said thanks for your time and hung up.
I’ve been getting so many weird phone calls from people lately, it’s not even funny.
How the hell would he know I registered my domain, unless my host is selling my personal information?
