Hey friends,
I’m looking to purchase a CD burner / DVD burner combo for my computer. Any favorable recommendations? Pros and Cons of going external?
Thanks!

I don’t think it matters I would get one that can etch on the disc though that way you don’t have to worry about writing on it with markers. Most dvd’s are 2x anyway so. I’ve been reusing the same 3 dvd’s for a good year now.
I try not to burn very many movies anymore my laptop can get into the 200F easily when burning a disc.

I’m not familiar with this feature. Please explain!
Are the rewritables worth the extra $ ??? Has the war between + and - gone away?
Thanks again!
I think its worth it. I keep all my movies on my storage drive and burn them over with Windows DVD Maker whenever i need to view one (best program ever btw).
BTW, technical word is “Lightscribe”. Most newer laptops have it and some cd burners do.
Just a few more questions …
Will any DVD available on the market work with LightScribe … or is LightScribe a company promoting their own media?
Thanks for the NewEgg link! Essentially, this unit burns CDs and DVDs under every available format, correct? (In other words, I’m not going to kick myself later hoping I’d have purchased one capable of something I’ve overlooked.)
Are externals unsavorably slower than internals?
Thanks again! Your help’s greatly appreciated.
bump
No light scribe is just a generic technology they added in. Nero supports it btw… but the cd burner will probably come with software for etching the disc.
Just don’t use lightscribe on a 2 sided dvd and you should be good. I believe it works on all dvds… its jut a laser.
I don’t know if they are slower most people buy cheap dvd’s that are 2x so it doesn’t matter either way.
Again, THANKS bro! I’m off to buy one. :cap:
Newer model of CD and DVD can read more advanced protected CD ( some copyrighted music CD or DVD movie) , liteon and plexter are among the best.
Just bought a burner! I’m able to download YouTube content to my desktop and view it with the Wimpy FLV player. Now I’m ready to burn a cd …
Question:
1. I need to convert the FLV to Mpeg, correct? (Or is there a more preferable format?)
2. I've seen several free conversion programs available on the Internet. Any recommendations? Is it advisable to go and BUY a better one? (I'd rather not, but if it'll make a substantial difference in the quality?)
Having fun with this!! :player:
