Reseller or Server

I recently bought a reseller account w/ these specs. 5 gigs of space, 100 gigs of band, and only allowed to host 10 sites on it. Total price per month is 50 dollars. Would it be smatter to just try and buy my own server and if so why and where…

I no one server site www.ev1servers.net are they any good, should I look elsewhere.

And one other question is what type of server I should look into. I host websites for my clients etc… I would like to have cpanel and the main stuff, and probably wouldn’t like to spend more then 75-100/mo

do you really want your own server? can you handle tech emergencies? do you have a dedicated power source WITH a backup… what about fire protection and backup data services? How well can you trouble shoot apache? etc.?

I think setting up your own center requires a lot more thought AND resources… it seems like money is a concern for you (and cheap isnt good when seting up a dedicated system)… why not rent dedicated servers from a hosting Co, mediaTemple comes to mind. Then you get to use their secure facilities, their tech support but have admin access to everything, with a server dedicated to you and only you.

Ryall hit the nail on the head. Only get a server for yourself if you have some knowledge of how to operate everything and troubleshoot.

As for backup etc and all the other stuff you need its prob cheaper getting a dedicated server from a web host :slight_smile:

after doing a search on webhostingtalk and finding nothing but bad complaints and seeing aitsucks.com I think I should go elsewhere. They seem to have good plans and prices, but the user reviews kind of scare me away. Any other sites out there you can reccomend.
