Robot Construction Design

I got this idea of a robot, that I want to construct. Yes, I know I’m crazy :stuck_out_tongue:
**
General idea:** Sphere shaped robot. Moving by changing its decision point (got that from a dictionary… basically the point where its mass is balanced)

When I was thinking about how it could actually work, I thought of this design: There will be many rams placed equally on a sphere (or at vertices of some polyhedron of some sort). These rams will change its length to alter shape of the sphere and to “move” the heavy core inside of it to make it roll (like this ;)). These rams would be hydraulic, controlled by a small pump. Inside would be also a battery, gyroscope and a device sending data from the gyroscope and also controlling the hydraulics bases on recieved data. All this would be wirelessly controlled by a computer program. Size of this thing would be nice around 10-30 cm.

Er, so… would it work? Are there some too large design flaws? Or do you have any idea what could replace the hydraulic system?

Really… I’m serious that I want to make it… and one day I will :evil2:

Thanks for any info… I’ll post some concept images soon :stuck_out_tongue:
