I want to be able to enter data into a text box(input), and then be able to close the flash file, then re-open it and the text is still there!
any help would be appreciated.

How about Shared Objects? Or, you could look into saving files with php, either will get the job done:

Shared objects will probably be your best bet. Unless you want to have a log in area where users can log in and see what they typed. Then you would probably have to go with a server side / database methodology.
