Anyone know if scanners get any bigger of a scan area then 8.5 x 11ish? Or am I gonna have to hit up a Kinkos :-\
My scanner is 11x17" …
but it is a few years old…
I’m sure they still make larger scanners…

Hehe, I need a big one. I just started using drawing paper at 14 x 17, instead of that small kind, cause it’s well, small. Lol, I’ll probably end up just going to Kinko’s, I havn’t seen a scanner bigger then normal size in the stores lately. Of course, only stores that I do look at Electronic stuff is Wal-Mart and Best Buy, mainly Wal-Mart laughs And it’s a sucky one too…
look for something called “legal size scanner” online…
maybe bestbuy.com…
or go to Kinko’s…

i dont think legal paper is 14". its long, but its still 11" wide… i dont know if they have such scanners that you are lookin for man. i think the closest thing would be one of those beastly kinkos one, which would be hella expensive
Lol, yea, I’ll just walk into Kinko’s and gank a machine nods They won’t notice.
Or you could do what I had to do… My good friend is quite the artist, and she had a painting she wanted scanned. There is a program out there that will allow you to scan tiles of the image and it will assemble them into one image. It worked pretty well for me, all I had to do was a little touch up work in Corel Paint. I think a Tabloid (11 x 17) is the largest scanner you will be able to find for a reasonable price. The larger format ones, like they use at printing shops are very expensive. I am not sure how much they would charge to scan something though. My HP is only 8.5 x 14 Legal size. =)
Cheers!

Big scanners are very expensive we have one here at work that does some of our poster size stuff. It is made by 3m I believe or is it cannon. I think it is cannon but it is very expensive.
It seems that the cheapest way to do this is by tile-scanning, as mentioned by Niann. It’s a real pain in the neck, but with a little Photoshopping, it should work out fine. I had to do this for work once (I had to scan this giant map), it wasn’t pretty. This Ledger size shouldn’t be too hard though.
Avoid Kinkos as much as you can… they’ll rip you a new one.
there are several Phot-stitching proggies out there with trial downloads for you to try…
they make it pretty easy to match up the edges…
just an idea…
