Scientist Injects Himself with HIV+ Blood to Test Vaccine

Nigerian researcher Jeremiah Abalaka injected himself with HIV positive blood to test a vaccine that he then gave to 300 HIV negative subjects. He says that since then, no one has contracted HIV. The leading journal “Vaccine” published his study.

He also has a therapeutic vaccine he says cured 20 people who were HIV positive. Criticcs say his work has not been independently reviewed by peers in the scientific community. Abalaka has also patented his vaccines so others cannot profit from them.

The journal "Vaccine" was concerned that Western standards of research were not followed in the study. But "Vaccine" editor Ray Spier says: "Time is short and the prevailing situation demands action. Desperate situations call for desperate measures."
