Screen size limit using.jpg or .png?

Hello all,

I’m going to be developing a project soon that will be played on a large 60" LCD 16:9 ratio screen. I know that I can build a 1200 X 675 flash stage and then simply set it to full screen and everything will scale up fine if everything is in there as vectors; but what if I need to use .jpg or .png images? If the embedded images are of a high enough resolution (let’s say around 2k squares), will they still scale up without a ton of pixelation?
