I’ve read quite a few posts on SEO and history navigation (Using the back/forward buttons to navigate through a flash site) and I’m looking for a general concensus as well as having a few questions about SEO.
SEO first…
Recently I’ve been hearing that google can now decipher text in a .swf file? Even if it’s only static text, does anyone know for certain if that’s true? If it is true, can it still read that text if the alpha is set to 0%? or 1%? Can it also read links in getURL() commands?
People recommend having a second HTML version of the site for indexing purposes. If you do, won’t the search engine index that site instead of the actual site you want people to use? If you use something like SWFobject, is there a way to make it so only search engines go to the secondary site instead of everyone without the flash player? Could you use spiders.txt to somehow do that too?
Where would deeplinking become involved with flash? Which URL’s in the .swf files can teh spiders find?
As for navigation, I’ve come across a few pages with examples, but I haven’t been able to find any tutorials. Does anyone know of a good tutorial for a well-functioning .fla file enabling back button navigation compatible with most common browsers and platforms?
Thanks so much for any help on this.
