Hello all,
OK. I’m one of those archaic designers still using MX2004. Its the only copy I have and I find that I don’t do enough Flash work anymore to justify buying a newer version. So a problem has arisen that is forcing me to really learn something new.
An old client (first client actually) for whom I created a full flash site is not getting search hits and traffic that they feel they should. At the time I created their site I had no idea about Deep linking, and Flash Optimization. And it’s true. Their site does not get hit by search engines. So I’m now being tasked to work this out.
I’ve been reading about SWFAddress and SWFObject, and I don’t fully understand them, or how I can retro their site to work with these technologies. A problem I found though… I tried to download SWFAddress to play around with it and see if I can get anything to go, however it seems that it doesn’t support MX2004? All of the example FLAs will not open in my version. I’m assuming this means that MX will not support these technologies? Would this help with search engine optimization, or am I barking up the wrong tree?
I came across this http://www.magicpixel.com.au/tutorials/flash/deeplinking.cfm, but I’m unsure if this is still the way to go in my situation.
I’m sorry. Since I’m a selftaught designer/developer I’m missing some key things to fully understand SEO. All I know is that I have to get this site up in the SE ranks and hits to satisfy a recently perturbed client.
Any help you guys can provide to me would be greatly appreciated. The next step would be to refer them to an SEO specialist, but their not going to go for the costs that comes with that.
Thanks again
