SEO - Need help with Flash/HTML issue

Hello all,

Brief Summary: I created a Full-Flash Website a number of years ago for a client. http://goshenenterprises.com Being self-taught, I really had no knowledge of the importance of SEO, and the issues presented with Flash. The client has come back to have the site SEO. I have done nothing for the past two weeks but research the options to improve the site’s SERP. I attempted implementing Deep-Linking with SWFAddress, but I was unsuccessful in this attempt. I couldn’t seem to get it to run, and for some reason all of the examples in the DL package wouldn’t open in my Flash MX2004 version? So I really couldn’t dissect to code.

I have implemented SWFObject to sniff out the version of Flash and provide alternate content. This seems like the best option for my client as of now. What I intend to do is to create a HTML mirror of the Flash site complete with SEO optimization, sitemap, etc. Implement a splash page to explain the options and to link to either the HTML or Flash content.

My question is… Does this seem like a valid choice to improve the results? Almost everything I have read has pointed to creating a mirror. Am I missing something? Something I’m concerned about is the fact that the HTML site will be spidered, and the search results will find the deeper HTML pages, yet since I don’t have deep linking implemented, the only way to directly reach the searched content is via the HTML page and not the flash… Rendering the Flash site almost unnecessary?

At first I was just going to provide the HTML homepage as the alternate to those users without flash or with JS disabled (SWFObject), but I think it might be better to give the user the choice of HTML or Flash.

Thoughts, comments, suggestions?

I appreciate any help you guys can give. I’m doing my SEO homework, and I’m far from “there”, but any guidance along the way from the more experienced will certainly be beneficial.

Thanks,
