I’m set to create an app for our installer field techs. The basic overview:
Home specs or blueprints would be loaded into a flash .exe (online in the future). The techs would then circle speaker locations, draw wiring paths, etc. for the prospective install location (using a tablet PC). The paths would preferrably by “erasable”, until they are submitted. The techs would click submit when finished, which would send the path data to a DB which would then allow the path to be pulled back up for viewing later. We’ll be using Flash 8, so I know the new Bitmap controls might allow something like this, but am not sure how to go about capturing the path info. I can create the drawing side of the app, but the capturing, sending, and pulling back out are all new for me.
Any ideas how it can be accomplished?
We use Zinc to create the .exe we use, and I know they have the DB connectivity and some advanced abilities which will hopefully help in this case (though not for the future online version - if it ever comes about)
