I recently picked up a copy of Macromedia MX and am for the very first time trying my hand at web design using html/flash. It seems I’ve bitten off a lot more than I can chew, being as I have no familiarity with the basics of how it all works, but I feel like I’m making some headway in any case. Reading through the tutorials and forums here at kirupa has helped immensely.
Really it’s just a simple problem, considering how deeps my lack of know-how really runs.
I made a button. On the over stage of the button it becomes a movie clip. That movie clip (back in the main stage) becomes a 13 frame graphic with an fps of 12.
The up and down stages have text. The animation does not.
The problem is the mouseover is getting tangled with the text whereas the pointer becomes a cursor, interfering with the button conditions and a smooth linking click.

Initial things I have done to try and correct this:
- tried grouping the image components
- tried different layering ideas so the text wasn’t on “top”
- tried creating new button instances
- tried creating new symbol “button” for the individual button states
Hmm. I can’t link the button, because it’s an .swf file, but I suppose I could link the page (uggh)
Keep in mind my skills are about 6 days old at web design before you burn me down to little motes of dust. hehe
