Simple Questions Flash MX

Hello everyone,
This is my first post of hopefully many on this forum. As a new user to Flash MX 2004 (and every other version) I have a few questions I hope somebody will take the time to answer them.

  1. I have been a user of Photoshop for a few years and have become acustomed to working with pixels, to my shock I see that Flash uses measurements such as W: ‘120.4’ what does this .4 mean? I can see it obviously makes a difference, but is it .4 of a pixel? (if so what is the reasoning behind .4 of a px?)

  2. My first project will be to assemble my webpage in flash, is there any advice for offer? and also should I use as few images as possible, although most will not be scrolled (with exceptions to diagrams which should be plenty).

  3. Should I use an image generated in photoshop or use several lines in Flash to generate a shadow effect?

  4. I want to have an image to gradually fill with another image from bottom to top as the page pre-loads. Can anyone offer me some guidence on how this can be achieved? After looking at the tutorials available on Kirupa I am confident I can do the scripting part (of the loading), it’s just actually making one image cover another without sliding over the top… (see attached screen shot to see what I mean)

Thank you to all those who took the time to read this and especially those who choose to answer it.
