Sin and cos formulas

this may be a stupid question but i figured id ask anyways. where do you find the sin and cosine formulas, used for animation. ive seen it alot with different movies that will rotate a group of circles. i understand all the code behind it, just kinda clueless as to where people find these formulas to start with. anyways if you know hit me back. thanks in advance.

Math textbooks? Trigonometry is all about angles of triangles, so the formulas all relate to movement along an axis. Generally the formulas are defined by what the author wants the movement to be.

Check out Sen’s tute, http://www.kirupa.com/developer/actionscript/trigonometry.htm

lol you should have paid more attention at math class  start with the basics about sin, cos, tan first you need to understand the pithagoras formula to get more familiar with the other trygonometrical expressions

Maybe he hasent hit that kind of math yet. BTW, this is the wrong place to post a question like this. I remember learning Trig stuff before we did it in math, good ol kirupa.com, always teachin me somethin new.

agree it’s hard to teach it for someone who has no clue about it

to tell you the truth, I’ve couldn’t have learnt it before we hit it in school if I haven’t had my cousine helping me out

I learned it 3 years before we we hit it in school thnx to Flash & kirupa =D
