Sites won't load in Firefox :(

So I just got my Internet set up today at my new apartment. It’s just this one computer and a cable modem (no router) and no built-in router (I don’t believe).

I loaded up Firefox and got this page for the default homepage:

I did Start -> Run -> cmd and typed ipconfig /release
Turned my system off and unplugged the modem, and waited about 10 minutes. Plugged the modem back in, waited until its lights came back on, and turned my PC back on. Nope, still Firefox didn’t work.
At the advice of a friend, I uninstalled Firefox, cleared my cache in IE and used IE (which works) to download a new copy of Firefox 2.0.0.1 and installed that. Same problem.

So I navigated to Firefox’s homepage and found this article:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Error_loading_any_website

I compared my IE internet settings:

with my Firefox Internet settings:

Restarted Firefox, still didn’t work.

I even opened the profile folder for Firefox and deleted the users.js file the article mentioned, restarted, still didn’t work.

Any idea why?

Also, GMail won’t load on IE, so I’m not sure if it’s just down or if its related.

Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

EDIT:

Also an update:

  • I remembered I have GMail Notifier and opened it, but got this error:

Also, when trying to connect to Final Fantasy XI for the first time in 2 months since I last had the Internet working here (and everything worked fine for all of the above), I get this:

And this when I click Network Information:

To my knowledge, I have no Firewall set up.

sigh

Any advice?

More Updates:

  • FlashFXP can connect to my server (hence the images I’ve provided)
  • LimeWire has no problem connecting, and says Turbo Charged Connection
  • AIM works fine.
