Hey guys,
haven’t been posting to much on kirupa lately, but decided to see if anyone here loves ska or emo. Or really any other kind of punk. Name your fav. bands!

Death Cab and Postal Service all the way, I’ll have to check out the other ones, but Death Cab is a favorite.

I kinda like ska, but not emo. I absolutely hate emo. But as for ska, I’ve only heard two bands, who I enjoy very much: Reel Big Fish and Five Iron Frenzy.

Ska is good, but ska is only really good or really bad, the only ska bands I really like are Less Than Jake and old old No Doubt. It’s hard to impress me with ska. Emo blows.

I like Reel Big Fish, some emo is good too, while I dont really like the music, there are some very talented Emo bands out there…

i love ska and emo, my favorite bands are inflames, iron maiden,sepultura, iced earth, death, and manowar

actually there’s two types of emo, the wussy fake-punk kind of emo that you’re all thinking of and then the creepy screamy death scary crap that partisan mentioned, so actually he’s not wrong.

In Flames - Melodic Death Metal
Iron Maiden - Old school Heavy Metal
Sepultura - Thrash Metal (At least the old sutff)
Iced Earth - Power Metal
Death - Death Metal
Manowar - Power Metal

Screamo is what you’re thinking about, bands like Alexisonfire and Poison the Well.

I listen to all these bands BTW

The best metal is the kind that involves vague Dungeons and Dragons references (same goes for classical music).

Seriously though, I’d rather listen to Swedish Death Metal than emo. Not that I see Swedish Death Metal as being more musically inclined or lyrically empowering, it’s just readily understood that you can take the piss out of most metal artists without making them cry.

I’m seeing death cab on nov 8th.
Yes I am totally seeing death cab, screw speach class.

I saw FIF during their final tour, they rock. Also big fan of Orange County Supertones, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, LTJ to name a few ska.

Los Fabulosos Cadillacs (the best ever), Autenticos Decadentes, Ska P, Calzones Rotos, Bersuit Vergarabat, Cafe Tacvba, Garbanzos, Mod Ska.

I love basically any of these songs, but definitly check out ‘photobooth’, ‘Lowell, MA’, and ‘sleep spent’. ‘Employment pages is good’ too.

My other favs (that aren’t so free) are ‘I Was A Kaleidascope’ and ‘Movie Script Ending’. Check those out fo’ sho’.
