Software not installing

Hey,
I built my new AMD system couple days ago and everything is fine so far. I haven’t installed internet on it yet. So to make sure my system was stable as I have overclocked it a little I downloaded all the free benchmarking software available online on my old computer and burned it onto a CD. I then took the CD and copied all the benchmarking software onto my new computer. Now whenever I click and try to install them they all say that the files are corrupted and try to download again. I can’t download the new software since I haven’t installed internet and won’t be for another week or so.

Can anyone tell me how I can fix this problem? I have seen many hardware sites review motherboards and stuff and if they all get the same error then how do they run benchmarks?

I am getting some sort of “CRC” error and “Files are corrupted.”

PLEASE HELP as this is very annoying.

I am posting this here because you guys know more about software than any other hardware forums. Please help.

CRC - Cyclic Redundancy Check. A CRC is a type of check value designed to catch most transmission errors. A decoder calculates the CRC for the received data and compares it to the CRC that the encoder calculated, which is appended to the data. A mismatch indicates that the data was corrupted in transit.

How can I fix it? Other CDs install fine but when I try to burn something onto a CD and they copy it to the new computer it always gives me “File Corrupted” or “CRC” error. Please help me fix this.

what type of files are these?

Files that use .exe extension and they are benchmarking software.

ok, windows has policy on transferring files, and checks their integrity, if the file appears to be corrupt or “pirated” it will come up with options or warnings, if the file is deemed vital, it won’t give you much room to work with.

i’ve found a registry item, that might help you with this…

how familiar are you with the system registry…

also on the cd software side, sometimes the Table of Contents on the CD can be corrupted, giving invalid locations…

have you tried using the CD on another computer?

if the same error occurs, then you might try re-installing the cd-burner software.

Yes, I have tried it in my other machine and the programs work fine. The benchmarks are not pirated because I have downloaded them from the official site and as you know many of them are free but have limitations. I have no problems going into the registry as I have done that tons of time before.
