just added an MP3 track to my movie, im using action script to run it and everything works fine.

the sound file is an MP3 at 5.2 meg and I can’t seem to get it much lower without compromising serious sound quality. Also when i publish the movie, flash doesn’t seem to compress the sound and I’m left with a SWF that’s 5.2 meg.

how can I fix this?
am i going about it the right way?

Don’t upload entire MP3s. Use smaller sound loops. you can find many at www.flashkit.com

An mp3 is already a compressed file and That is as far down as you can get without losing quality.
