From someone stationed in Baghdad. He was recently bitten by a camel spider which was hiding in his sleeping bag. I thought you’d like to see what a camel spider looks like. It’ll give you a better idea of what our troops are dealing with.
Its kind of hard to tell how big they are in that picture. It actually makes them seem bigger than they really are. About as big as they get is around 3 inches long
the only “big” spider in the world is the turantula in South America, which can get up to 12 inches across. Most are only 4-5 at the largest, and are not agressive. It’s the small aggressive ones you gotta watch out for, like the ones above maybe?
Yeah, I agree with what was previously said. The picture makes those spiders look gigantic, but if you look at the hand thats holding it, it’s right up in the lens. They really aren’t that big (tarantula sized).
