Ok well i think i have narrowed down my problem a bit, to make it easier to answer.
I simply want it so that when i insert a new keyframe with a symbol in it that has already been used, the symbol doesn’t play the movie again, it just diaplays the final frame.
Alternativey I’d like a way of ‘grabbing’ everything on screen at a certain frame - after my movie symbols have finished their animations (50 frams each) i would like to copy and paste them all in their final state…
If someone was really nice they could edit the movie themselves :!: I’m sure it would only take a second for someone who knows what they are doing - i managed to cheat past the problem once but it keeps coming back and its seriously bugging me now…
oh - thanks, I already did that to stop it at the right time, the problem is that I want it to stay stopped so that if I rotate the whole shape using a tween, the animation doesn’t start again (which at the moment it does!)
I am still confused by your question, so you have movie clips on your main timeline that you want to stop on the last frame of each one of those movie clips so taht they do not repeat. And you want to be able to copy and past them onto the main timeline in their final state.
I think I have you wrong, but you just need to use gotoAndStop(); depending on wether you want it to go to a certain frame of frame label, reply back because I think I am not getting it.

no, im kind of finding it hard to explain (mainly becuase I’ve only just started in flash and I don’t really know whats going on!)
Would you mind if I emailed you the flash file (the problem is obvious when you see whats going on!) - its only like 24k! - my web space is down at the moment
I think that i might have made a fundamental error in the way I have constructed the movie - i wouldn’t expect you to sort that out, but maybe explain what i have done wrong…
If you look at the animation (its not all that good at the moment, whilst trying to sort this out things have become unaligned etc).
Anyway, the text fades in once, but then fades in again (I only want it to do it once).
I have another file in which the text doesn’t fade in a second time (thanks to telekinesis), but the wheel construction plays again when the whole thing roates, and I have no idea how to stop it!
Once all of the start animations have been done, i simply want to have the button rotating the wheel (you can click it, but i have only done the first one to demonstrate).
I would do it by simply extracting the finished animation and turning it into a graphic. However I can’t find a way of doing this!
