Stopping automatic download of flash player

I am trying to stop the automatic download of the flash player for users who visit my site with an older version of the player. I would rather not bother them. The flash file is for asthetic value only and it can be viewed by version 4 and higher.

I am publishing the swf file to be view by version 4 and higher and I am using javascript to detect the player version.

Should I edit the codebase in the object tag?

In your publish settings under the HTML tab you can turn off Flash Detection. This should prevent this.

Although… I don’t think many people are using the Flash 3 plug in still.

I even have a friend that runs a 200mhz POS with Windows 95, and they still have the newest plugin.

last stats I saw were like 97% of visitors had the Flash 4 player installed.

here is a thread from a couple months ago with all of the stats:

Yeah I know, but I figured for updated purposes you might want to check back now and then
