I hope you dont mind me asking all these questions im very new to flash 8 and would appreciate any help anyone can give. Im a young freelance video editor that has been asked to use/learn flash video streaming for a project and im really stuck, its like there is a magic ingredient that’s missing! It’s doing my head in! please dont laugh to hard at my lack of knowledge …i am new to this…well you can laugh a bit
I have successfully encoded and uploaded a large number of flash videos as flv files. They are on the webstreaming server.
The site isn’t going live for another month or so – but we can’t get them to work via our existing website.
• Do I need to upload any other files to the server to recognise the player/link?
• I have successfully embedded videos – but we need to be able to stream them
• Should there be any settings that need to be changed on the server to support flash streaming?
• What action script commands do I need to stream from the webstreaming server to the video player in our test website?
• Are there any incompatibility issues we need to know about when using front page 2003?
• I’ve managed to get a connection to the server but it asked for our administrator password (which i dont want) but when I typed it in, I am told no such file or directory is found… so looks like i got that wrong
• If I import a video it asked me if its already uploaded on a server but it asks for a http:// or rtmp:// and doesn’t except our link ftp:// … is it my lack of knowledge about servers … will either http:// or rtmp:// be somehow recognised as the ftp:// destination
• If I can create a link to the server to stream how do we ensure that no other user can access the material by typing in the correct path to each flash video file? How do we tell the server to only play each flash video file through a specific Flash player on our website – and no others?
• How can I stream different flv’s through the same player on the same page
Any other help or advise, links, action script templates usful books … id be so grateful
Just a last thing thats been annoying me (not that important) when i motion tween some text to ‘rotate’ … it works fine on the stage but when viewing on test movie it doesn’t and if i export it still doesn’t work i find that really strange…any thoughts… dont worry if not
