Hullo everybody, perhaps i should have posted this in the random section but oh well;
there were recently awards (in frogland) given to computer design students (worldwide i think)… I have some of the full videos and they are quite impressive:
check http://www.imagina.mc/palmares.php
especially the tim-tom video and i enjoyed ‘Gravites’
im really sorry the movie called ‘Gravités’ was made by a french school of computer design - although i agree most of them were not… It’s just the one I say and I knew it was done by a school… Sorry…
Sorry to-repost but is your school good ?
I mean I’m in 12th grade and ( I might redo my year, yes) looking to study abroad… I’ve heard about Rochester in the United States and a few other but some people told me i could find good schools in canada… …unfortunately I didnt come across this one ??? Do you know where I could get more info/review ?(other than the website)…
There is only two schools that worth the mention in Canada. By the time that I made my course (a year ago), the first one was the best in North America and the second, the second one in North America.
The first one is Sheridan College, at Toronto. They offer a strong formation (3D, cartoon, hand drawing, 2d, cinema) but you will need two years to complete your diploma (4 sessions).
The next one is Centre NAD, at Montreal. They offer two courses : “3D and Animation for games” (10 months) and “Special Effects for TV and Movie” (12 months). Both are really kick-*** : some of the students got job at Industrial Light And Magic and for the game program, most student works now for Strategy Fist (Disciples 2, ORB), Microids (Syberia, Amerzone), and Ubi Soft (Splinter Cell, Myst… 4).
I don’t have the url of Sheridan but here is for Centre NAD :
For both schools, you will have to present a portfolio.
Yeah man… And I looked at the price and it turned me down. Being french I wouldnt gat any financial aid except maybe a student loan… Hehe I dont want to go to a school I’ll have to pay my whole life, but your school really does a great job…
The price is high (10k $ US) but just to gives you an idea, we were working - in 2001 - on brand new DELL Workstations : Pentium 4 Dual processor 1.8 gHz, 512mb RAM, GeForce 4 Ti, 21inch screen. In 2001 ! And they change all computers each 3 years.
In the student following mine, there were a student from France… Hmm, or Belgium. He was completing its studies in order to become… teacher in its own country.
That would mean that with my formation, I could be a teacher in France. Pretty cool eh?
