Alright well, I’m not showing anyone this page yet, but I figured you guys are worthy.
Some of you may have seen community sites like myspace, which allow you to set a theme (sort of; it lets you set the css style, but kinda indirectly, causing headaches for everyone I think).
And I usually hate the styles people make. Maybe you’re seeing where I’m going with this
I own a community site of my own, and finally decided to start work (and finish) my secret weapon: Styler. This basically lets users alter the stylesheet used by the site directly. It takes values for items on the page and puts them in the style with post.
I have it at about 80 percent done, I think.
I just finished saving tonight (although unless you register you can’t save, but you can try it out :))
http://www.passedtime.com/index.php?page=styler
Things to look forward to:
user controlled settings for what is displayed on a profile (ie, ext pics, movies, etc, along with the ability to turn off external style sheets, and only see the style sheet you want.)
ALL the code added
What is there:
users can save one style atm, and that gets entered into the main style drop select.
I jsut spend maybe 10 hours trying to get the save to work; it was such a pain, and I kept making small mistakes…
Let me know what you all think, ideas, and any bugs you might find.
thanks
