SWF pop-up query

Hi,
I am constructing an on-line portfolio of my work… I would like some of my design work to pop-up into centrally placed windows…
Now, before you think

  • not another pop-up window question, why doesnt he just take a look at one of the many tutorials floating about on the web… I have.
And I have downloaded three different Fla’s. But the thing is they only seem to pop-up html pages… not SWF’s. Seeing as my web site will be constructed with lots of SWf files, how do I link my buttons to centrally placed swf pop-up windows? Or cant I?
    Whats the story?

Cheers

Well it is professional and preffered to embed the .swf file into a .html file.

But either way, a pop up window loads a URL, not a specific file type. If you want it to load your .swf file, just have the URL that it loads open up your .swf file.

further on the same theme… loading “SWF’s” only - puts them on top of your movie (noPop-up) thereby cluttering up your movie or unloading what was there B4…depending on how you call it into “load” (levels play here)
Loading a sep.HTML page opens a “pop-up” that can be closed at will and can be controlled as to size and position on screen but you run the risk of annoying your audiance or losing to a “pop-up-blocker” program by the viewer.

…methInks the best is to design for central content to disappear and allow for your "called"content to replace same with maybe an interface of some sort to act as a “displayViewer” with it’s own controls all which can be dismissed with a click when done.

ERGO:: Load SWF’s into a level that accomidates this on your main movie

Cool! I feel a lot more enlightened now…
…and I think I will stick with pop-ups even though RelandR mentioned the pop-up blocker program. My main movie is a relatively small square about 450 x 450 and considering the present layout of it, fitting detailed photographs within the design would be tricky…I could use a slide show script, but I guess I just got this urge to play with pop-ups.
Anyhow, thanks for your help and advice!
